FAR EASTERN  University swept College of Saint Benilde, 25-21, 25-16, 25-19, to capture the Shakey’s Super League (SSL) National Invitationals Batangas leg crown Sunday night at the University of Batangas Millennium Gym.

Gerzel Petallo and Jazlyn Ellarina led with 13 and 12 points, while Congolese hitter Faida Bakanke, who scored 10 points, bagged Best Player honors. Veteran setter Christine Ubaldo also tallied 14 excellent sets and five points.

Head coach Tina Salak lauded her team’s progress but noted passing and defense as areas to improve before the next campaign.

For CSB, Zamantha Nolasco topscored with eight points, followed by Rhea Densing (7) and Chenae Basarte (6).

In the battle for third, Letran dominated host University of Batangas, 25-22, 25-15, 25-20, behind Verenice Colendra’s 21 points.

Other leg champions were National University (Davao) and Adamson University (Cebu). The SSL Collegiate Pre-season Championship kicks off Sept. 20.
