LADY RED SPIKERS, LADY STAGS TRIUMPH IN NCAA VOLLEYBALL

26 February 2026

SAN BEDA University dominated Lyceum of the Philippines University, winning 25-14, 25-19, 25-16 in the NCAA Season 101 volleyball tournament at the San Andres Sports Complex on Wednesday.

Jeliane May Catubig led the Lady Red Spikers with 14 points, seven digs, and seven excellent receptions, while Janelle Bachar contributed 13 points on 11 attacks and two blocks. The victory improved San Beda’s record to 8-2 in Group B.

Coach Emilio “Kung Fu” Reyes expressed surprise at his team’s strong response following their 19-25, 20-25, 25-15, 25-22, 15-17 loss to Perpetual Help last Sunday.

“We were unstable then; it was very uncharacteristic for the team,” Reyes said. “It all boils down to our emotions. Our skills didn’t lack, so I told them to take as many lessons as possible from that game. The important thing is how they bounce back. They responded today, went back to our system, and we limited our unforced errors.”

Johna Denise Dolorito scored 12 points for the Lady Pirates, who slipped to 3-7.

In another matchup, San Sebastian College-Recoletos overcame Jose Rizal University in a five-set thriller, 27-25, 20-25, 26-24, 17-25, 15-7.

Juna May Gonzales scores 20 points, Kristine Dionisio added 15, and Jercine Balajadia delivered 19 excellent sets for the Lady Stags, who improved to a 4-6 record in Group A.

Czarina Ramos and Nicole Deala tallied  28 and 23 points, respectively, for the Lady Bombers, who are now 2-8.
