LADY ALTAS SWEEP LADY GENERALS, STAY PERFECT IN NCAA VOLLEYBALL

8 February 2026

UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help System DALTA held its ground against a late rally by Emilio Aguinaldo College, escaping with a 28-26, 25-14, 26-24 victory in the NCAA Season 101 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday at the San Andres Sports Complex in Manila.

Veteran outside hitter Shai Omipon led the charge as the Lady Altas improved to an unblemished 5-0 record in Group A, while the Lady Generals remained winless at 0-5.

Omipon finished with a team-best 18 points, highlighted by the match-clinching hit, and added seven digs. Cyrille Almeniana contributed 16 markers, while Jemalyn Menor chipped in eight to help Perpetual extend its unbeaten run.

EAC threatened to force a fourth set after capitalizing on an Omipon attack error to tie the third frame at 24-all. However, Cara Dayanan’s service error handed momentum back to Perpetual before Omipon redeemed herself with a decisive kill from the left wing to complete the straight-sets sweep.

The victory placed Perpetual one win shy of matching its 6-0 start last season, a mark head coach Sandy Rieta’s squad hopes to surpass after falling short of a Final Four berth in Season 100 despite a strong opening run.

For EAC, Dayanan, Alex Razonable, and Ashley Toriado each scored 20 points in a losing effort.
