KIEFER RAVENA, NLEX STILL IN NEGOTIATION ON POSSIBLE PBA RETURN
The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) awaits its resolution as Kiefer Ravena and NLEX continue to finish their contract negotiations with the season-opening fast approaching on June 5.
“Si Kiefer po, naglaro sa Gilas, now gusto niyang maglaro ulit, but wala pang agreement. Nag-uusap pa ang two sides. Si Kiefer and his agent, and NLEX. Pinapag-usapan pa kung maglalaro siya, if we reach an agreement,” Franco said during the PBA’s press conference
Ravena is waiting for the go signal from the PBA on whether he would be allowed to suit up for the NLEX team after abandoning the Road Warriors in the middle of the Philippine Cup last season to join the Shiga Lakestars in the B. League.
Commissioner Willie Marcial bared that Ravena had already sent a letter to his office but the league is still waiting for the decision of the Road Warriors’ take first before making resolutions.
“Sumulat na sa ‘kin si Kiefer, noong weekend. Sabi ko tignan natin. Hinihintay na lang natin ‘yung pag-uusap nila with NLEX tapos ie-elevate ko sa board. Board din ang nagdesisyon kung ano ‘yung sitwasyon ni Kiefer, kung papayagan nila,” Marcial said.
Negotiations between Ravena and NLEX need to be discussed clearly whether Ravena intends to fulfill the terms of their earlier agreement and return to the Road Warriors for good, or if he only plans to play until the end of the Philippine Cup and then return to the Lakestars in time for the new season of the B.League.
It is reported that he has been offered a contract extension with the Shiga Lakestars following a solid outing in the last season of Japan’s B.League, where he tallied 12.7 points, 5.8 assists, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game.
“Bumalik siya, so dito na ba siya ng dire-diretso?, O tama ba ‘yung balita ko na isang conference lang siya? So ano na? ‘Yun ang kailangan naming desisyunan,” Marcial bared.
“Mayroon siyang sinabi sa akin. May kasulatan kami,” Marcial added. “Ano ba, tatablahin ko ba ‘yun? So idi-discuss ko sa board,” he added.
