JAJA SANTIAGO, SAITAMA SWEEP KUROBE; EXTEND WINNING STREAK

Jaja Santiago and Saitama Ageo Medics extended their winning streak after sweeping Kurobe Aqua Fairies, taking its 4th straight win in the women’s division of the 2021-22 Japan V.League season yesterday at Wink Gymnasium in Hyogo.

Bottom rank team Kurobe was left stunned by the Ageo Medics in a three-set sweep, 25-14, 25-18, 25-19.

Santiago logged a total of six blocks all throughout the game and is still among the top blockers in the league with a total of 68 blocks.

Kurobe was left with no chance even in the second set with a deficit of seven points as Saitama’s outside hitter Yuka Sato led the team with her 12 points followed by Santiago’s 11 points.

Saitama secured the win with the team’s collective effort as Brazilian import Lorenne Teixeira scored 10 points, Kyoko Aoyagi and Mami Uchiseto scored eight and seven points, respectively.

Now, the Ageo Medics standing improved into a 15-8 win-loss situation and moved forward to the 5th standing with a chance to be included in the final round slate.

Santiago together with her team will try to protect its standing on Wednesday as they battle against the NEC Red Rockets.
