GAB TO KEEP AN EYE ON VISMIN SUPER CUP AFTER GAME FIXING CONTROVERSY
Even after Pilipinas VisMin Cup has laid out its sanction to the Siquijor Mystics and ARQ Lapu-Lapu Heroes following their controversial game on Wednesday, the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) is still probing the matter.
VisMin Super Cup has expelled the Siquijor Mystics from the league and its players and coaches are also barred from joining the other teams under the Super Cup on Thursday, a day after their game.
Moreover, the league has slapped suspensions and hefty fines on the players and coaches of Lapu-Lapu.
Regarding the revocation of the licenses of the players and coaches of the concerning teams, GAB chairman Baham Mitra promised to give due process before arriving at their decision.
“As to the players’ license revocation, while we respect the league rules, we will base our decision on the report from our own people on the ground and the move of VisMin but giving all parties concerned due process,” he said.
VisMin Super Cup resumed its games on Friday and is moving forward with its new schedule with GAB closely monitoring the league.
“As to the league, we are watching them closely and issuing reminders to them at all times. We assure basketball fans and the public that we are on the ground and making sure the integrity of professional sports is upheld at all times,” said Mitra.
