Overall, it was the 18-year-old Iloilo City native’s nine goals, the best in the league that allowed the Baby Tamaraws to gain a maximum of 12 points.
His exploits never went unnoticed.
“He has a really big potential,” said FEU coach Vince Santos on Mamon. “He arrived not used to our system but has adjusted really well and it’s showing now.”
Another young upstart Leonen Gatungay also delivered for the Baby Tamaraws.
Meanwhile, Jian Caraig scored a brace or two goals as La Salle-Zobel turned back the University of Santo Tomas, 3-1, in the other game and strengthen its drive for the second finals slot.
With the win, the LSZ Junior Archers solidified their hold of second place flashing a six-point card and they can actually grab the second finals seat with a simple draw against the Blue Eagles on Saturday.
The Tiger Cubs occupy the third spot with three points and cannot afford to drop points in the last two matches for a chance to move on to the finals.
