31 players including the veteran Marck Espejo and John Vic De Guzman attended Day 2 of the tryouts for the men's national volleyball team organized by the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) in Subic Bay.

The federation invited a total of 40 players to bat for the tryouts and 9 players did not favor the invitation yet with 31 players to pick on, the coaches will be taking their time to decide and pick their players. 

“I’m sure the coaches will have a hard time determining who to pick,” said PNVF president Ramon “Tats” Suzara.

He also affirmed 20 players of both men’s and women’s volleyball teams would suffice.

Other players who joined the tryouts were Jessie Lopez, Josh Retamar, Mark Alfafara, Jao Umandal, JP Bugaoan, Kim Dayadante, Anthony Ekwenugo, Mark Enciso, Alche Gupiteo, Noel Kampton, Kim Malabunga, Chumson Njigha Jr., Leo Ordiales, Ish Polvorosa, Jian Matthee Salarzon, Ricky Marcos, Manuel Sumanguid, Rex Intal, Nico Almendras, Leo Aringo, Lloyd Josafat, Joeven dela Vega, Jack Kalingking, Louie Ramirez, Ysay Marasigan, John Mark Ronquillo, Kharyl Parce, Rayver Sison, and Francis Saura.

While Bryan Bagunas, one of the squad veterans missed the tryouts as he just finished his stint in Japan’s V.League.

Nonetheless, Suzara stated that “Maayos ang tryouts. Una kasi, batch by batch ang tryout, at sobrang dami ang nag-attend.”

Makikita mo din na talagang gustong-gusto ng lahat na makapasok sa national team,” he added.

The 3-day tryout will conclude its scheme today on a beach volleyball setup.
