The 25-year-old Filipino Olympian, Obiena, recently made history as he registered a new Asian record in the men’s pole vault in Austria stint, but fell short in jumping to the next tournament in Berlin.

In the first bout, Obiena easily cleared 5.41 and 5.56 in just the first tries, and 5.71 on the second attempt.

After clearing 5.81m as well on the third attempt, the Filipino pole vaulter decided to skip the 5.86m and moved to the next height of 5.91m.

However, a chance for a bronze medal slipped in the hands of Obiena as he failed all three attempts to pass through 5.91m.

Meanwhile, the event had 11 competitors by which three Americans brought home all the medals.

Sam Kendricks and Christopher Nilsen both cleared over 5.91m to win the gold and silver, respectively, and KC Lightfoot at bronze medal after clearing 5.81m at his first attempt.
