CIGNAL STAYS PERFECT, DOWNS BALIPURE TO ADVANCE IN SEMIS
Cignal HD Spikers remained undefeated after fending off the BaliPure Purest Water Defenders in the quarterfinals of the 2022 PVL Open Conference and punched a ticket to the semi-finals yesterday.
“I feel proud [of this team]. What we have worked for is already bearing fruit,” said Cignal head coach Shaq Delos Santos. “But of course, we still have a lot to improve.”
The HD Spikers were able to nab the three-set win against BaliPure, 25-14, 25-9, 25-14 with Ces Molina bannering the team by being the best player of the game.
BaliPure started out strong and played as a team but Cignal’s Gel Cayuna shattered the solid wall block of the Water Defenders in the first set as Molina led the team with her 12 points attack.
As the Spikers were able to get hold of the momentum, Roselyn Doria helped Molina on the court by adding 11 points on the scoreboard powered by the 26 excellent sets of Cayuna to end the second set without a sweat with 16 points advantage.
Cignal stayed at the top of their game by giving no chance to BaliPure to retaliate and easily ended the match.
“I think ang naging key namin talaga namin sa team na ‘to ay yung trust namin sa isa’t isa, sa process, and sa gusto ng mga coaches na mangyari, and ‘yun goal namin,” former Perlas Spikers Molina said.
“‘Yun talaga yung naging key namin, yung trust sa bawat isa,” she added.
After the incredible quarterfinals stint, Cignal will await the winner against the twice-to-beat Petro Gazz Angels and the F2 Cargo Movers.
