BASILAN SIGNS WITH SEVERAL NEW PLAYERS AHEAD OF VISMIN SUPER CUP MAIDEN SEASON

Basilan Peace Riders have announced the addition of Chris Bitoon, Michael Mabulac, Juneric Baloria, Stephen Siruma, and Jay-R Taganas to reload their roster for the upcoming inaugural season of the Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup.

Prior to being drafted as the 26th overall pick by Blackwater, Bitoon has played for the Manila Stars in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) averaging 12.5 points,  4.5 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.8 steals in 25.2 minutes in his last season.

Moreover, he was named as a member of the All-MPBL First Team in the 2019 Datu Cup.

Mabulac had a stint in the Phillippine Basketball Association (PBA) for three seasons with San Miguel and donned the Bacoor jersey in the last season of MPBL where he normed 9.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.

Meanwhile, Baloria had a two-year enlistment in the PBA being drafted in the third round in the 2014 Rookie Draft before playing in the MPBL.

The 30-year old last played for Makati Super Crunch where he averaged 12.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.9 assists.

Siruma was with Bulacan Kuyas in the last MPBL season who chipped in 8.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 23.4 minutes of playing time.

The 6-foot-3 center Taganas was with Siruma in Bulacan in the recent Lakan Cup and averaged 5.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists.

Basilan’s quintet signing have been familiar with the system of head coach Jerson Cabiltes and consultant Stevenson Tiu.

Bitoon, Taganas and Siruma were teammates in Che’Lu Bar and Grill playing under coach Cabiltes in the 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup.

On the other hand, Mabulac was with Taganas and Siruma in Bulacan back in the MPBL Datu Cup.

Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup is slated to tip-off on April 9 with the Visayas Leg in Alcantara, Cebu while the Mindanao Leg is set to begin in May.
