AMPLE TIME TO PREPARE FOR KAI SOTTO AS NBL-AUSTRALIA LAUNCHES 22ND SEASON ON NOVEMBER
Coming out for his grand debut for the Adelaide 36ers, Kai Sotto will have more time to immerse with the team as the National Basketball League-Australia (NBL-Australia) is set to open on November 18.
NBL-Australia announced plans to launch its 22nd Season on November 18, a delayed starting date due to the ongoing pandemic.
“Having a start date confirmed for November provides clarity for our clubs, players, coaches, staff, partners, broadcasters and fans, as we all prepare for what promises to be another amazing season,” NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger shared.
Loeliger said that they have set the opening date in November to give them flexibility as well as provide the fans more opportunity to watch the games amidst the pandemic.
“Based on expert advice and based on our own experiences from last season, delaying a month gives us more flexibility and most importantly, it provides fans a much better chance of attending more games in Australia and New Zealand as the number of people vaccinated against COVID increases towards the end of the year,” he averred.
The 19-year-old Sotto recently signed with the Adelaide 36ers.
Sotto has been staying in Australia since August 9 but will join his team in their training camp once he clears the protocols.
Along with former G Leaguers Emmanuel Malou, Dusty Hannahs, and Todd Withers, Sotto will be joining the new faces for the team that finished seventh last season.
Completing the list are Daniel Johnson, Isaac Humphries, Mitch McCarron, Mojave King, Sunday Dech, and Tad Dufelmeier, who are the holdovers of the last season.
The Adelaide 36ers are expected to prepare also for the preseason games which will likely take place sometime in October.
