Altas eyeing for Steve Tiu, Jerry Codiñera as the Head Coach
With Frankie Lim’s resignation as the men’s basketball head coach of the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (UPHSD), Perps prospects two veterans as the next head coach of the Altas.
Steve Tiu of the Basilan group and former Arellano head coach Jerry Codinera will bear the resemblance for the position.
With the promising coaching style, Steve Tiu is expected to sharpen the skills of the Altas as what he did in the Basilan Group by winning over the PBA-D League and best-of-three title showdown against Chooks-to-go.
He has the influence and power backing him up which would be a great help for the basketball program of Atlas.
In addition, Tiu led Jumbo Plastic Linoleum Giants to a back-to-back championship held by the PCBL back in 2015 with no big-name players.
On the flip side, Jerry Cordiñera can be a well-mentor for the Perps as his experience for being a PBA Legend with a five-time PBA champion under his belt will help him do it.
Jerry was not only a legend inside the court, as well as outside the court as UE warriors and Arellano Chiefs had undergone through his supervision.
Known as the ‘Defense Minister’ and being a member of the 25 greatest professional basketball players in the Philippines he will have to suit up for the Altas for the incoming NCAA Season 96.
After a three-losing streak, 5 wins and 13 losses, with no head coach as of the moment UPHSD will need to have it as soon as possible.
Still, Perpetual is not expected to announce its head coach anytime soon due to what the pandemic has caused to the school, leaving Coach Lim not receiving his salary for the last three cut-offs.
