After the 70 minutes match, the Filipina teen tennis sensation seeded second after climbing back in a counterpunch with a straight-set sweep 6-4, 6-1 from 0-4 deficit in the first set.

The world number four, Eala advanced in the second round of the tournament and will compete against the unseeded German Mara Guth.

Ranked No. 56 in the world junior circuit, Guth crushed Sarah Iliev of France with 6-4, 6-3 straight sets.

It is not a first-time encounter for both Eala and Guth as they came face-to-face last year in Japan at the Osaka Mayor’s Cup World Super Junior Tennis Championships. Eala recorded a 6-4, 6-3 win for their semifinal match.

Dominating the first-round match in the Roland Garros Junior, Eala also competed in the girls’ doubles together with Elvina Kalieva of the United States on that same day at the French Open.

Eala is in hopes of grabbing her second grand title after the victorious 2020 Australian Open girls’ double wherein she worked side-by-side with the Indonesian Priska Nugruho.
