ACC, Club 515 to be sanctioned for quarantine violations
National Task Force Against Covid-19 to penalize Alabang Country Club (ACC) and Club 515 for unauthorized conduct of sports activities last August.
Joint Administrative Order (JAO) Group found out that Club 515 organized the 14th PEMCOR Cup in which Muntinlupa Club was the host last August 28 and 29.
Metro Manila was under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) at the time the tournament was held.
Moreover, participants of the tournament hosted by the club allegedly were not wearing face masks.
The tripartite governing body of the JAO Group for the conduct of sports consisted of the Games and Amusements Board (GAB), Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), and Department of Health (DOH) have already conducted their investigation for breach of quarantine protocols.
“Our group has forwarded it to the IATF already and the National Task Force was already given instructions to implement the decision. I am not at liberty to disclose it,” GAB Chairman Abraham Mitra said.
Recently, Sherwood Golf and Country Club also was found out holding an unauthorized tournament which led Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla to order its indefinite closure.
As per General Guidelines No. 3 of the JAO No. 2020-0001, non-professional sporting events such as tournaments, competitive events, and athletic meets shall not be permitted on certain quarantine levels.
“The JAO group has finished its investigation and has submitted its findings to the IATF through the DOH. We hope that those found to have violated the guidelines be sanctioned,’’ PSC Chairman William Ramirez said.
GAB Chairman reminded everyone to strictly follow implemented protocols saying “At this time of pandemic we are governed by rules that are made to make us all safe. We urge everyone to abide by it.”
