ARELLANO University clinched a quarterfinal berth in the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball Invitational League (GVIL) by defeating De La Salle-Zobel, 25-21, 17-25, 25-20, at the Paco Arena on Tuesday (04 June 2024).

Samantha Maranan led the Lady Braves with 19 points, while Catherine Chu added 14. The victory gave Arellano a 3-1 record in Pool B.

Next, Arellano will face the unbeaten Adamson University from Pool D in the quarterfinals.

In other matches, Lyceum of the Philippines High School dominated Chiang Kai Shek High School with a 25-16, 25-13 win in Pool A. Lyceum and Bethel Academy are now tied at 3-1, but Bethel holds the No. 1 spot due to a higher match point tally, 10-8.

Lyceum has a chance to secure the last quarterfinal slot in Pool A if De La Salle-Lipa loses to California Academy in their ongoing match.

In Pool C, Montessori School pulled off an upset by defeating the University of Santo Tomas, 21-25, 25-19, 25-21, to secure their quarterfinal position. Shahanna Lleses scored 14 points, and Shekaina Lleses contributed 11 for the Lady Vikings, who will face Bethel Academy at the Adamson University gym on Wednesday.
