GLOBE READIES LUZON FACILITIES FOR ‘PEPITO’
While addressing the impact of recent storms, Globe is closely monitoring the track of yet another incoming weather system likely to affect a large swathe of Luzon and parts of Visayas this weekend.
Globe’s network teams are on alert in anticipation of the effects of Severe Tropical Storm Pepito, which entered the Philippine area of responsibility Thursday night, tracking west southwest towards the country, according to the weather bureau.
The typhoon may undergo rapid intensification and become a Super Typhoon before making landfall, PAGASA said.
Globe has prepositioned personnel and supplies on the path of the typhoon, particularly in Southern and Central Luzon, and in Eastern Visayas. Globe’s network facilities have generator sets and batteries in anticipation of commercial power outages due to severe weather.
“Our teams are getting ready for Pepito, with supplies and manpower in position as we brace for impact. While it is inevitable that power outages and ground conditions could cause service disruptions particularly with typhoons of this magnitude, our goal is to ensure that we’ll be able to quickly restore much needed connectivity once conditions on the ground permit,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer.
Globe urges communities that may experience the effects of Pepito to prepare supplies, including food, water, medicine, first aid kits, emergency light sources and batteries, and to charge their mobile devices.
The company also reminds the public to get weather information only from legitimate sources. Globe provides free data access to the website of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
Many communities across the country are reeling from the impact of recent successive storms and need all the help they could get. Globe calls on its customers to support relief efforts by donating their Globe Rewards points via the GlobeOne app.
