Letters of Youth

FROM A CHILD OF TODAY’S HEROES

/ 20 October 2021

I watch my dad clothed with white

With the lab gown, he seems so bright

I watch my mom full dress in white

Leaving the house then out of my sight

Both are my heroes of the night

Treating the others with delight

Not minding how much they fright

As winning others’ lives is their fight

But as their child, I’m terrified

Fearing that one day, they’ll be slayed

By the villain that is unseen

Yet silently attacking and causing pain

But I can’t just simply say

And plead to let them stay

As sacrifice is part of their duty

As oathed to their responsibility

Hence, all I want is your appreciation

Love and care for their situation

Cause they’re not just parents, brothers, or sisters

They are our heroes, our dear frontliners
