TOP 10 DAVAO CITY STUDENTS TO GET ADDITIONAL CASH AID
QUALIFIED students in Davao City who were the beneficiaries of laptops donated by the People’s Republic of China last year will also get additional cash aid amounting to P8,000.
Through the Office of the City Mayor, the Davao Special Projects initiated the new program in partnership with the Consulate General of PRC-Davao.
Norman Baloro, Presidential Commission for Urban Poor Commissioner, said the project is dubbed as ‘Sprout Award: Scholarship of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Davao for Outstanding Students in Mindanao’.
“It seeks to provide financial assistance for each selected outstanding student. The program is very timely and relevant that it will somehow ease the burden of the families financially. This will be a great help,” said Baloro.
Baloro added beneficiaries should belong within the top 10 outstanding students for School Year 2020-2021 in their respective grade levels.
In October 2020, the Consulate General of PRC-Davao donated laptops to 310 indigent learners under its ‘Student Siblings’ Laptop Sharing Project’.
Of the 310 recipients, Baloro said at least 58 students have already complied with the requirements to qualify for the additional cash aid.
He urged parents or guardians of qualified beneficiaries to visit their office at Door 7 in Magsaysay Park, Davao City for the submission of requirements until August 13.
