TESDA LIGHTS UP HOUSEHOLDS IN SARANGANI VILLAGE
HUNDREDS of households in Alabel municipality in Sarangani province will soon see the light thanks to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
Project TALA or TESDA Alay ay Liwanag at Asenso will light up around 350 households in Barangay Datal Anggas before Christmas.
Under the project, one person from each household was trained on Photovoltaic Systems Installation NC II.
TESDA-XII Regional Director Rafael Abrogar said the trainees were provided with solar panels, wires and lights, as well as scholarship allowances.
Alabel Mayor Vic Paul Salarda provided food during their training while Sarangani Congressman Ruel Pacquiao shouldered the other expenses including housing so that the trainees need not trek hours to return home.
This year, Project TALA has trained around 1,000 beneficiaries in isolated and disadvantaged areas in Region XII or the SOCCSKSARGEN Region.
TESDA chief Isidro Lapeña said that Project TALA has become a significant intervention of the Task Force in the region.
“To date, Project TALA has already lighted 650 households. This project did not only provide unenergized communities the source of energy, but also skills on Photovoltaic Systems Installation,” he said.
Lapeña said that 3,000 more slots will be opened for Project TALA scholars to light up more households by the end of the year.
