TACLOBAN LGU DISTRIBUTES CASH AID TO 64 SCHOOLS
In preparation for the new school year, the local government of Tacloban distributed over P3.2 million support fund to the city’s 64 schools.
Mayor Alfred Romualdez said that each school received P50,000 in financial assistance.
“The aid, intended for the opening of classes in September, forms part of LGU’s commitment to the education sector in ensuring that the youth get the best possible nurturing despite the challenges of new learning methods amid the health crisis,” Romualdez said.
Imelda Gayas, principal of Rizal Central School, thanked the local government for institutionalizing the yearly release of the financial assistance.
“The fund will be used by the school to augment the maintenance and other operating expenses in support of school-based repair in preparation for the new school year,” Gayas said.
Meanwhile, the city government along with the Rotary Club of Kandaya Tacloban, constructed a mini-library and community center for the benefit of school children in Brgy. 106, Kawayanville.
The mayor said that a Wi-Fi will be installed in the new facility for connectivity.
