SENIOR High School students in Koronadal City were given tablets for their distance learning.

Jonathan Emmanuel, city executive assistant on internal affairs, said 4,794 students in eight public schools will receive their gadgets on October 2.

Koronadal City Mayor Eliordo Ogena started the distribution of Lenovo tablets to Grades 11 and 12 students in Concepcion National High School in Barangay Concepcion last Wednesday.

Ogena advised the students to look after the tablets and use them in their studies, not to play games.

The local government purchased gadgets worth about P22 million using the Special Education Funds.

“This is historic. In the entire Mindanao, only Koronadal City distributes tablets to about 96 percent of Grade 11 and Grade 12 students in public schools. There are other LGUs (local government units) that carry out similar initiatives but only for select recipients, not their entire senior high school population,” he said.
