THE SCHOOLS Division Office of the Department of Education in Digos City vowed to strengthen its literacy programs to ensure that learners will be able to read comprehensively.

Dr. Melanie Estacio, division superintendent, said school heads will evaluate the current literacy and numeracy programs and will make data available during the monitoring or school visits.

The SDS said that among the plans to bolster the literacy of children include reading and numeracy camps during school breaks and a reading program involving the barangay.

Estacio said that all teachers should provide quality teaching and learning to increase proficiency.

They should prioritize teaching subjects that entails more on analysis and evaluation like Mathematics, Science and reading, she added.

She also presented her plan on how to help schools in times of calamities.

“Create a resilient curriculum where schools can easily shift to flexible learning in times of calamities by making sure that kids have complete set of materials or resources to use,” she said
