SDO CALAMBA ROLLS OUT MOBILE LIBRARY
THE SCHOOLS Divisions Office of Calamba City has launched Project HELOW or Highly-Enhanced Library-on-Wheels to help improve the reading skills of young people in the area.
A van converted into a mobile library tours schools in the division every Wednesday.
The project was led by Dr. John Carlo A. Paita, head of the Learning Resource Management and Development Section.
Some of the services provided by the project HELOW are theme reading and one-on-one reading tutorial where division and district supervisors and other SDO officials teach non-readers to read in each school they attend; e-reading which seeks to hone students’ reading skills using educational devices and mobile applications; storytelling and film viewing.
Students can also have access to electronic resources and online book borrowing system.
Officials plan to expand the project to cover out-of-school-youth.
