SCHOOLS SUSPEND ONLINE CLASSES
THE POWER outage caused by typhoon Rolly in some provinces prompted the Camarines Norte State College to declare an indefinite academic break.
The break which started on November 3 will last until electricity is fully restored in the province.
“Super Typhoon Rolly has devastated the Bicol Region and our province was not spared. The current power outage has affected our students and faculty members,” CNSC President Rusty Abanto said.
“This means that flexible learning consisting of synchronous, asynchronous activities and handouts distribution is suspended. A separate administrative memorandum will be released for the resumption of classes,” he added.
The Divine Word College of Calapan also suspended online classes until further notice because of the erratic electric supply in Oriental Mindoro.
The school said only 48.3 percent of households in the province had electricity.
“This is also supported by the survey on Students’ Status of Internet Connectivity and Electric Power Service conducted by the Student Affairs Office wherein 31 percent of the respondents still have no power supply in their area,” it added.
