PBED ENDS VIRTUAL LEARNING TRAINING
THE PHILIPPINE Business for Education, in partnership with Accenture Philippines, concluded the first virtual volunteer training session for its community-based learning program, Kiddie Learning Train.
A total of 200 individuals from Mandaue, Talisay, Metro Cebu, and Lapu-Lapu volunteered to help remediate Kinder to Grade 3 students in reading and math lessons. The first training session held on August 14, 2021 was led by Tiny Labs, a non-profit organization tasked to prepare the volunteer teachers to address the students’ needs.
The training, a combination of synchronous and asynchronous sessions, began with a discussion from PBEd Deputy Executive Director Diane Fajardo. The training proper was facilitated by teachers Mary Ann Barcelon and Joyce Guerrero of Tiny Labs.
The volunteers were given the opportunity to study and familiarize themselves with the learning materials which will be used to tutor their students. It was followed by a discussion on the KitKit School Learning App, which was developed by the digital early-learning solutions provider, Enuma. The app provides an interactive game to help the learners improve their proficiency in reading and math.
Cebuano Youth Ambassadors Inc. Founder and President Paolo Saberon helped mobilize the volunteers and other partner institutions.
The second volunteer training session will be conducted on August 21, 2021.
