MMSU, DOST ILOCOS NORTE JOIN HANDS TO CONDUCT WATER SAMPLING IN CARASI

THE MARIANO Marcos State University and the Department of Science and Technology Region I conducted water sampling in different barangays to determine household water quality.

At the same time, the move is aimed to provide clean and potable water for the municipality of Carasi in Ilocos Norte,

“An aggregate of 26 examples were assembled from said households together with the spring water in the said municipality,” DOST said.

“The examples will be exposed to microbial examination and potability test at the DOST-Regional Science and Technology Laboratory to decide the intercession that will be required in the networks and communities,” it added.

The water sampling in 23 households was led by Jahmai O. Grande, PSTC-IN CEST Coordinator, along with Cyrill Ann B. Manalon from the DOST-I Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory, Dr. Floramante Pastor, and Estrelita O. Domingo of the MMSU Research Extension.

As a part of the priority areas submerged and sterilization, Manalon said it is vital to decide whether there are risky organisms in the water tests since a large portion of the families locally drink from spring water sources.

During the water sampling, DOST said a calibration caravan was all the while directed in the said municipality.

“Soon, the DOST-I CEST Team is additionally expected to execute more science and technology mediations locally to improve the living conditions of the families,” it said.
