A TOTAL of 2,349 Grade 5 students in Midsayap, Cotabato joined the annual Summer Kids Peace Camp to learn the importance of peace and develop their leadership skills.

This year’s attendees were from Midsayap Central District, Midsayap North District, Midsayap South District and Midsayap SouthWest District.

The three-day activity started with a parade of students, teachers and facilitators from the Integrated Provincial Health Office.

Launched in 2011, the program aims to promote peace by teaching Cotabateño children good fellowship, self-awareness, equal rights and responsibilities of youth, different religions and traditions.

It also gives the participants the opportunity to mee and socialize with their fellow students from different schools.

Governor Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza thanked students, teachers, facilitators, members of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Armed Forces of the Philippines and the local government for their support and cooperation for the success of the event.
