THE DEPARTMENT of Education will employ alternative modes of learning in schools affected by the restiveness of Mayon Volcano in Albay.

“We will be implementing alternative learning systems to students with suspended classes or for classrooms used as evacuation centers,” the department said.

Governor Edcel Lagman has provided guidance to school administrators whose schools will serve as evacuation centers to implement alternative learning methods to ensure that education continues.

Lagman underlined the significance of working together with local government organizations to secure the resources and assistance that the affected students and teachers need.

Around 27 schools within the six-kilometer permanent danger zone were affected by the volcano’s activity, which included frequent rockfall.

The number of affected schools may rise to 39 if the situation worsened, the Albay Provincial Information Office said.
