LAST MILE SCHOOL IN AGUSAN DEL NORTE NOW WITH ELECTRICITY, INTERNET

/ 23 June 2025

A LAST mile school in Agusan del Norte is now connected to electricity and satellite internet under the Marcos administration’s 295-school Last Mile Electrification Program.

Datu Saldong Domino Elementary School, located in Sitio Tagpangi, Barangay Simbalan, has become the first school energized through solar power under the program—a joint initiative of the Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Energy (DOE), and the National Electrification Administration (NEA).

DepEd and NEA led the energization and digital activation of the school on June 19, delivering solar power, Starlink internet, and digital learning devices to Sitio Tagpangi.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara and his team witnessed the school’s transformation through the P1.295-billion Last Mile School Electrification Program.

“This is an IP school. They got their electricity last Monday, thanks to the quick work of NEA and DOE,” Angara said. “This is the first school. After this successful launch, more will be rolled out simultaneously.”
