F2F GRADUATION RITES NOT ALLOWED IN DAVAO

/ 7 May 2022

NO physical graduation rites will be held in Davao until the Department of Education issues guidelines, an official said.

Jenielito Atillo, spokesman of the DepEd office in Davao, said that face-to-face end-of-school-year rites in public and private schools are prohibited.

“If there are no guidelines, we are not approving any request… to implement recognition, graduation, and moving up ceremonies because the guidelines really will tell us the specifics of how to conduct it,” Atillo said.

Atillo said DepEd-Davao has received a lot of requests from schools to conduct F2F EOSY but no school has been given permission to hold in-person graduation rites.

“There is also a grey area with respect to that because there are schools who are not conducting the F2F learning modality but are now requesting for F2F EOSY so that’s why we wanted this to be clarified by the DepEd central office,” he said.

As of April, 419 of Davao City’s 430 public schools were holding limited face-to-face classes.
