THE EASTERN Samar State University and the Department of Social Welfare and Development on Wednesday signed an agreement to convert the university’s campuses into warehouses during calamities or disasters.

Under the pact, ESSU’s Borongan, Salcedo, and Can-Avid campuses will be used as storage areas for food and non-food items.

“This is a proactive approach in dealing with disasters as these prepositioned items could come in handy once natural calamities, like typhoons, strike this part of the country,” the university said on Facebook.

“This partnership is a manifestation of the University’s commitment in building safe and resilient communities in the province,” it added.

The memorandum of agreement was signed at ESSU Main Campus in Borongan City by representatives from both institutions.
