THE DEPARTMENT of Public Works and Highways office in Cagayan helped 20 schools prepare for class opening this year through the annual Brigada Eskwela 2023 initiative.

Headed by Chief of Maintenance Section Engr. Lilia Herrera, the maintenance staff assisted 11 schools in Enrile, five in Tuguegarao, one in Peñablanca, and one each in Iguig, Amulung and Solana.

They conducted grass cutting, tree trimming, plastering of plant boxes, and painting pedestrian lanes near schools.

District Engineer Mariano Malupeng reaffirmed the office’s dedication to support the Department of Education during Schools Maintenance Week.

Brigada Eskwela aims to provide clean, secure, and child-friendly learning spaces.

The program, which began in 2008, is a testament to the resolve of local governments and educational institutions to make this academic year successful.
