THE DEPARTMENT of Information and Communications Technology is set to launch multiple Free Wi-Fi sites in Region X and CARAGA Region in February and March.

The projects were carried out through the DICT Mindanao Cluster 2.

DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan II said that the setting up of Wi-Fi hubs is proof that the department is doing its mission to provide internet access to all.

“This series of launches that we will be conducting is a proof of your DICT’s undying commitment in implementing the mandates of RA 10929, and of our mission to connect every Filipino – wherever they are in the country —  to the digital landscape,” he said.

“This is just the beginning. You can expect more Free Wi-Fi sites to be deployed in the coming months as we continue to fast track the roll-out of the program,” Honasan added.

Nine provinces are scheduled to be installed with free Wi-Fi sites in February and March.

The DICT earlier installed Free Wi-Fi in State Universities and Colleges and in public hospitals.
