DICT PROVIDES INTERNET IN PAG-ASA ISLAND

THE DEPARTMENT of Information and Communications Technology provided internet connection for residents of Pag-asa island in Kalayaan, Palawan through its Very Small Aperture Terminal project.

DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan II said that the program aims to empower citizens by connecting them to the rest of the world.

“As we bring connectivity to remote areas of the country, including unserved and underserved areas, we are empowering our citizens and enhancing their participation in the global digital economy. This year, we are intensifying the implementation of our connectivity programs to achieve more inclusive ICT access,” he said.

“Your DICT shall continue to intensify our efforts to build an inclusive digital future for the country,” Honasan added

The DICT Luzon Cluster 3 spearheaded the VSAT installation.

The initiative was a collaboration between DICT LC3-Palawan Provincial Engineer Virgo Pinangay, Kalayaan Mayor Roberto Del Mundo, Vice Mayor Hermoso Ornopia, and other local officials.

The cluster also turned over three units of laptop from the DICT Tech4ED Program to give free ICT access to residents of Pag-asa Island.
