THE DEPARTMENT of Education office in Rizal commended teachers who served during the elections on May 9.

Dr. Susan Oribiana, Rizal DepEd superintendent, said that the dedication of the teachers was commendable because they went above and beyond their obligations as educators.

“I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to all the teachers who served in this election. There were many teachers who had to trek mountains just to bring the election materials to and from the polling places during the wee hours of the night,” Oribiana said.

The DepEd Rizal official added that teachers were crucial in seeing to it that the electoral exercise in the province was peaceful and orderly.

The canvassing of votes by the Provincial Board of Canvassers, of which Obiana is the secretary and a member, was carried out without a problem at the Rizal Provincial Capitol.

Nina Ricci Ynares, a former Government Service Insurance System board of trustee and the eldest child of outgoing Governor Rebecca Ynares, was elected governor of Rizal Province.
