DEPED IN GENSAN TO HELP IN VACCINE INFO DRIVE
THE DEPARTMENT of Education’s Schools Division in General Santos City in South Cotobato had started preparing for the rollout of the vaccination program against the coronavirus disease, an official said.
Romelito Flores, city division superintendent, said education officials will help raise awareness on the importance of getting vaccinated.
“We already had coordination meetings with the health sector regarding the role of our agency on this initiative,” Flores said.
He expressed hope that the country will achieve its target vaccination coverage to stop the spread of the disease and allow normal activities to resume such as face-to-face classes.
“Our situation with Covid19 is still uncertain and I want to be sure first that our learners are safe before resuming the regular classes,” he said.
The city was earlier included by the DepEd central office for the holding of limited face-to-face classes.
Flores said a school in a remote community that is considered low-risk was selected for the conduct of face-to-face classes.
The school has enough classrooms to accommodate 15 to 20 learners in each setting to ensure the proper observance of physical distancing.
He said city and barangay officials have to approve the holding of pilot face-to-face classes.
“We’re just doing the necessary preparations on the ground but everything will depend on the approval of our central office and the local government units,” Flores said.
