/ 12 August 2024

THE DEPARTMENT of Education has conducted a monitoring visit at Leyte Regional Prison to assess Alternative Learning System classes for the School Year 2024-2025.

In a post from the Bureau of Corrections, it said that representatives from DepEd Central Office John Alvin Seradoy and Erlinda Leva emphasized the importance of ALS in providing educational opportunities for Persons Deprived of Liberty who had not completed their studies.

Through the collaborative efforts of the DepEd Region VIII and LRP, the opening of classes for PDL students has been smooth.

The said collaboration underscores the importance of a united effort in achieving educational goals.

“By fostering strong partnerships, both organizations can leverage their strengths and resources to create more effective and sustainable educational programs for PDLs.”

The Senior High School classes in both Maximum and Medium Security Camps, as well as the school building donated by the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., were also visited and inspected.
