THE DEPARTMENT of Education office in Central Visayas received P3 million from the Central Office for the repair of classrooms damaged by Typhoon Odette.
DepEd 7 Director Salustiano Jimenez said the money will be used to repair around 300 classrooms in Cebu.
Jimenez said that P5,000 was set aside for each damaged classroom.
The official said that the typhoon affected at least 6,219 public school classrooms and the damage was estimated to be worth P2 billion.
Some 719 classrooms were destroyed, 500 of which require reconstruction.
The remaining 5,000 require minor repairs, Jimenez said.
