THE DEPARTMENT of Education has allowed the conduct of in-person graduation rites in the Bicol region as Covid19 restrictions eased.

The department also allowed other in-person closing of the school year activities.

“We already have more than 2,500 schools having limited face-to-face [classes]. Face-to-face recognition or closing will be allowed to Alert level 1 and 2 areas provided the local government unit will provide assistance or approval and parents will consent,” DepEd Bicol Director Gilbert Sadsad said.

Sadsad added that minimum health standards will be strictly implemented to ensure the safety of the attendees of the in-person events.

The official, however, said that handshakes are not permitted during the rites.

According to the DepEd, school recognition and closing ceremonies will take place between June 27 and July 2.
