NABABAHALA si Department of Education Central Visayas Regional Director Salustiano Jimenez sa mababang reading comprehension ng mga mag-aaral.
Ito ay matapos ang mastery test na isinagawa ng ahensiya.
“I was really sad about the result because there’s a big percentage of students, especially those in Kindergarten to Grade 3 that still could not read,” ayon kay Jimenez.
Aabot sa 75 porsiyento ng mga mag-aaral sa Grade 3 sa Central Visayas ang hindi pa rin marunong magbasa o may mababang reading comprehension.
Iniuugnay ni Jimenez ang mahinang reading performance ng mga mag-aaral sa mahigit dalawang taong blended learning.
“That (home-based learning) was partly to blame in terms of reading performance. There was no actual pupil-to-teacher interaction during their Grade 1 and 2 years because of the pandemic,” sabi ni Jimenez.
