CHED CENTRAL VISAYAS URGES STUDENTS TO GET VACCINATED

/ 4 October 2021

THE COMMISSION on Higher Education in Central Visayas urged students who will attend limited face-to-face classes to get vaccinated against Covid19.

CHED Regional Director Maximo Aljibe said inoculation will minimize the chances of developing severe Covid19 symptoms should students contract the virus.

“Hangga’t sana maaari, that’s what we encouraged, para talagang ma-assure tayo. Kung magka-positive man, at least hindi severe or ‘yung chances ng hospitalization,” Aljibe said.

Last week, President Rodrigo Duterte approved the expansion of limited in-person classes to include other degree programs that “require hands-on experience” in areas that are under Modified General Community Quarantine.

CHEd chief Prospero de Vera III gave assurances that the holding of physical classes will be safe.

“Based on the data we gathered on the ground, there is a small percentage of students and faculty members who were affected by Covid19. I’m convinced that it is safe to hold face-to-face classes and it can be expanded to cover other degree programs,” De Vera said.
