THE BANGSAMORO Transition Authority approved on third and final reading the Bangsamoro Education Code that will pave the way for educational reforms in the region.

The Bangsamoro Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education said that the BEC will lead to the “establishment, maintenance, and support of a complete and integrated system of quality education.”

The BEC shall govern all education systems.

“The Code will contribute to creating harmonized relationships to ensure effective collaboration within the education community in the region. As a result, we can now institute the necessary reforms to deal with the protracted difficulties that have affected our education sector even before establishing the BARMM,” Education Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal said before the approval of the code.

“I often say that Education is paramount for the Bangsamoro. Education is vital not only because it is a priority of the Bangsamoro government’s development plans, but it is the bedrock on which we build on the hope and future of the next generations. Education helps every learner to understand their possibilities and the opportunity to determine their paths,” he added.

BEC is one of the six priority legislations of the BTA that should be passed during the transition period.
