BFAR ADOPTS FEASIBILITY ANALYZER SOFTWARE DEVELOPED BY PROFESSOR

/ 14 March 2021

TO ANALYZE the practicality of a proposed research project or plan, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources adopted a software developed by an agricultural engineering professor from Visayas State University.

The software, Bytex Feasibility Analyzer, was developed by Professor Arthur Tambong in 1997.

“It took two years for Prof. Tambong to develop the first working prototype of the Bytex Feasibility Analyzer. This app is now 24 years old and has been updated several times with version 5.18 as its latest release,” VSU said.

The BFAR was the second government agency to partner with the VSU’s Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering for the software use.

The Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering was the first to adopt the software in September 2020.

“Recently, a law was created to develop a number of hatcheries spread across the country to be administered and monitored by BFAR. The creation of these hatcheries requires an extensive feasibility study before its actual implementation,” VSU said.

“This paves the way for the use of the Bytex Feasibility Analyzer to ensure that these hatcheries will comply with the International Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards,” it added.

Tambong said that doing a feasibility study without the help of a software is “a very tedious task.”

“The mechanical and manual ways of doing a feasibility study are subject to a lot of errors. Our software solves that problem because of three things — speed, accuracy, and convenience,” he explained.
