BAGUIO GOV’T COMMENDS STUDENT’S ACHIEVEMENT IN MATH OLYMPIAD
THE BAGUIO City government recognized a University of Baguio Science High School student who bagged the gold in the Southeast Asian Mathematical Olympiad 2022.
City officials passed resolutions commending Daven Barrios for besting other participants from the Philippines and other Southeast Asian countries to claim the award in the competition’s Grade 12 students category.
“Local legislators stated that the outstanding performance of Barrios has portrayed unquestionable discipline and academic excellence that serves as an inspiration for the whole city and worthy of emulation, especially to the youth,” the city’s public information office said.
“One of the hundreds of participants in the recently held SEAMO 2022 is Barrios who displayed outstanding attitude towards accepting mathematical challenges during the Math Olympiad and for representing the city among hundreds from the country and the Southeast Asian region,” it added.
The Southeast Mathematical Olympiad is a unique assessment platform originating from Singapore that places strong emphasis on critical thinking skills as part of its 21st century core competencies.
It has grown to become the most highly acclaimed Math Olympiad competition in the Southeast Asian region over the past several years.
