APAYAO POLICE ASSIST RESIDENTS ENROLL IN ALTERNATIVE LEARNING SYSTEM
POLICE officers in Apayao assisted residents enroll in the Alternative Learning System – Basic Literacy Program in the municipality of Luna under the BarangaYanihan program of the Philippine National Police.
Thirteen residents of Sitio Tuek in Bacsay enrolled in the program and were immediately given orientation and modules.
ALS, a program of the Department of Education, aims to provide out-of-school youth and other Filipinos the opportunity to develop basic and functional literacy skills, and to access equivalent pathways to complete basic education.
BarangaYanihan is a community relations program of the PNP implemented through the Police Community Affairs and Development Group headed by PBrig. Gen. Eric Noble.
Members of the Apayao Provincial Mobile Force Company, as well as the ALS – Luna District and barangay officials also provided residents with some hygiene kits and school supplies.
PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar commended the police officers for their help to ensure that education is attainable for those living in small communities.
“Napakahalaga ng edukasyon para sa ating lahat dahil ito ang nagsisilbing pag-asa sa karamihan ng ating mga kababayan na makaahon sa kahirapan. Kaya saludo ako sa ating kapulisan sa Abra dahil ipinakita nila na kabahahagi sila sa pagpapahalaga sa edukasyon,” Eleazar said.
The PNP chief vowed that the police will continue to take an active role in the education of the youth.
