/ 20 May 2023

SIX Higher Education Institutions in the Cordillera Administrative Region made it to the World’s University Rankings for Innovation this year.

WURI acknowledged the impressive performance of Saint Louis University, University of Baguio, University of the Cordilleras, Ifugao State University, Cordillera Career Development College and Benguet State University.

They were ranked based on six crucial criteria —Industrial Application, Entrepreneurial Spirit, Ethical Value, Student Mobility and Openness, Crisis Management, and Industrial Revolution.

SLU was in the 40th spot for Industrial Application, 43rd in Entrepreneurial Spirit, and 29th in Industrial Revolution.

UC, on the other hand, placed 45th in Entrepreneurial Spirit, 28th in Industrial Revolution, and 43rd in Student Mobility and Openness.

Meanwhile, ISU was ranked 42nd in Ethical Value and 35th in Industrial Revolution.
UB ranked 43rd in Entrepreneurial Spirit, while CCDC claimed the 35th spot in Ethical Value, and BSU entered the 35th place in Ethical Value.

WURI was introduced by the Organizing Committee of the Hanseatic League of Universities. Its objective is to move away from conventional rankings that primarily emphasize quantitative metrics associated with research and academic systems.

Instead, WURI focuses on recognizing innovative programs that make a genuine difference in society.

This year’s rankings were organized by the Policy and Strategy on National Competitiveness of South Korea with the help of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, HLU, the Institute for Industrial Policy Studies based in Seoul, South Korea, and the Taylor Institute of Franklin University Switzerland in Switzerland.
