106 CLASSROOMS TOTALLY DAMAGED BY ‘AGATON’
AT LEAST 106 classrooms were totally damaged by Tropical Storm Agaton, an official of the Department of Education said on Tuesday.
Ronilda Co, director of DepEd’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Service, said the classrooms are in Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and Bicol.
Co said there were 38 “fully destroyed” classrooms in Western Visayas, 36 in Central Visayas, 22 in Eastern Visayas and 10 in Bicol.
She added that 87 classrooms were “partially damaged.”
According to the DepEd, the total estimated cost for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the classrooms is P308.5 million.
Computers, school furniture and learning materials valued at P567.86 million were also destroyed.
