SORSOGON Governor Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero on Thursday called on the youth to contribute to nation-building and urged them to register with the Commission on Elections so that they can vote next year.
“As we commemorate today the International Youth Day, we also celebrate the youth’s potential to become leaders of tomorrow,” the former senator said.
“Let this special day be a reminder to our youth to do their part in nation-building. After all, the future belongs to you,” he added.
Escudero reminded the youth that they have the power to choose the next leaders.
“Paano kayo magsisimula? Sa ating mga kabataang edad 18 pataas, magparehistro sa Comelec. You have until next month to do it, at bumoto sa May 2022 National Elections,” he said.
“Ang halalan ang inyong pagkakataon na mailagay sa posisyon ang mga kandidato na sa tingin ninyo ay karapat-dapat sa inyong mga boto,” he added.
According to the United Nations Population Fund, the Philippines has the largest generation of young people.
There are 40 million Filipinos aged 18 to 39.
“Kung ang lahat ng mga ito ay boboto, imagine what change you can effect? Huwag po nating sayangin ang pagkakataon. Get involved. Please register and vote,” Escudero further said.
