YOUTH GROUP SUPPORTS LABOR RIGHTS EDUCATION ACT
THE SAMAHAN ng Progresibong Kabataan backed House Bill 08241 or the proposed Labor Rights Education Act, saying it will help students understand the rights of workers.
“SPARK supports the filing of House Bill 08241 and demands its finalization as law. Integrating labor rights education into basic education will equip not just workers but also students to understand and defend their rights in workplaces,” the group said in a statement.
Magsasaka Partylist Rep. Argel Joseph Cabatbat filed the bill that seeks to integrate comprehensive labor rights education in the K-12 basic education program.
Cabatbat said most Filipinos “are thrown into the labor market and accept below-minimum standards of work because of sheer ignorance.”
The Spark said the youth should learn the rights of workers.
“Labor education will pave the way for empowered workers uncompromising in their rights, so that a more just society can prevail,” it added.
